Get to the gym first thing in the morning! To get started have a coffee at home and then head to the gym for a thirty-minute treadmill run or spin class. Working out in the morning jump starts your metabolism and gives you a head start to the rest of your day.
Set realistic goals for the week. Dedicate certain days as “work out” days. Keep in mind holiday commitments can sneak up on you so you definitely want to get your workouts in.
Be mindful of what you are eating at holiday parties. During the holiday season you don’t have to completely skip out, however it is important be mindful of how much you are eating. Moderation is everything. Choose either alcohol or desserts. Avoid double dipping in the good stuff.
When you need something sweet, curb your craving with fruit and vegetables. Picking fruits and vegetables high in sugar can satisfy that craving. I start every morning off with a can of Beet Performer beet juice and the sugars from the beets satisfy me.
Exercise for thirty minutes a day four times a week. It is important to stay committed to your exercise schedule all year round. Cold weather and holiday food is not an excuse. Treat every day like it’s summer!
